The Institute of Communication Studies conducts social science research with a focus on strategic communication in digital publics. Our four working groups conduct research on current topics such as disinformation, radicalization, alternative media, communication between parties and organizations and digital transformation. We integrate communication science, psychological, sociological and political science perspectives into basic and applied research. The scope and quality of our research is reflected in the third-party funded projects we have currently acquired, the large number of publications in high-ranking journals and numerous lectures at international conferences. In the theses and student project seminars we supervise, we try to combine current research and teaching in the best possible way.
Detailed information about the research and teaching activities can be found on the individual pages of the work areas.
