General information on examinations
at the Professorship of Psychological Methodology

A total of 2 written examination dates are offered per semester. Please note the following:

The 1st examination date (written) is a binding date. Only those who do not pass this examination or are ill on this date (after presenting a medical certificate) may take the 2nd examination date (written). Oral examinations are only held after hardship applications have been approved (3rd attempt).

Students who are ill on the 1st examination date and do not pass the 2nd examination on the retake date must take the examination on the regular examination date in the following year. Students who withdraw from the module examination are not entitled to take part in a resit in the current semester. Further participation in the examination is only possible after re-registration for the examination (i.e. on the regular date in the following year!).

Information on the oral examinations

Appointment

Please make an appointment for the oral examination with Mrs Schaller(katrin.schaller@uni-jena.de).

Preparation

The topics of the oral examination are on the one hand the contents of the lecture and, if applicable, the tutorials, but on the other hand also the basic knowledge of the previous semesters. For the examination, you prepare two outputs in advance (e.g. analyses that you have calculated), one of which is chosen as the initial topic.

You can make an appointment for a preliminary discussion with the respective lecturer of the lecture or exercise in preparation for the examination. If there are a large number of students to be examined, this should take place in groups if necessary.

Procedure

The examination lasts approx. 30 minutes, during which you will first explain one of your prepared outputs and answer questions from the examiner about this output. You will then be asked further questions on the content relevant to the exam. These questions may be of a content-related nature (e.g. definitions, comprehension questions), but may also include calculations. You will also receive a collection of formulae with the necessary formulae for the semester in question. You are not allowed to bring your own notes, but it is possible to formulate the answers in the examination (e.g. formulae) in writing. After a short consultation period with the examiner and assessor, you will receive your grade on the spot.
