Welcome to the Research Group for Educational Theory
The research group focusses on foundational concepts in education via theories of power, difference, and recognition. Our work is theoretical, qualitative-empirical, and historical. We are especially interested in the analysis of professional cultures in schools, their dealing with structural problems, and intersecting questions of professional ethics. Moreover, we aim at refining the qualitative methods we use via constant theoretical and methodological reflection of our empirical work. In this regard, we work on the empirical analysis of practices of symbolic addressing as well as further developing critical and post-critical approaches to educational research.
