Subject and goals
Educational theories are central to the development of a professional self-understanding as an educator. By reflecting on fundamental educational concepts and practices with their respective social implications, a horizon can emerge that enables students to reflect on their own actions. In our teaching, we mainly focus on the following topics:
- concepts such as education, upbringing, responsibility, or authority
- practices such as teaching, testing, or counselling with regard to their inscribed logics of subjects and difference production
- theories of power, difference, and recognition from philosophy and sociology in order to understand and theorize educational practices and their effects within their social conditions
- concepts of professions and theories of professionality concerning the production of inequality as well as their democratizing function
