On 9 and 10 November 2023, the first annual meeting of the DVPW thematic group on International Organization (TGIO)External link took place at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. The speakers of the thematic group around host Christian Kreuder-Sonnen invited to the Rosensaal to discuss a variety of exciting and current contributions within the framework of the topic "International Organizations in their Environment: Competition, Synergy, Conflict".
In addition to Christian Kreuder-Sonnen, who acted as discussant on the panels "Legitimation across organizations" and "The politics of membership in networked institutions", Philip M. Tantow from the Chair of International Organizations also contributed his own paper ("Authority Shifts in Transboundary Crises" as part of the panel "Institutional choice under conditions of complexity"). Steve Biedermann from the Chair of International Relations also took part with his own contribution ("Normative, Market or Security Power? Which European Union Participates in Informal Intergovernmental Organizations (IIGOs)" as part of the panel "The politics of membership in networked institutions").
The annual meeting was supported by the German Political Science Association (DVPW)External link and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Ines Schildhauer from the Institute of Political Science as well as Katja Thiele, Hendrik Damerow and Christoph Stieglbauer from the Chair of International Organizations were also involved.
