International Organizations under Pressure

Professor Christian Kreuder-Sonnen and Professor Gisela Hirschmann (Leiden University) jointly organized and chaired the workshop "International Organizations under Pressure", which was held on 18 and 19 July 2022 in Bonn. In four panels and a roundtable, participants discussed challenges of International Organizations (IOs) and IO responses. Steve Biedermann (Chair of International Relations, FSU Jena) and Philip M. Tantow presented a joint paper on the "Crisis-Informality Nexus."

The workshop included the founding act of a thematic group on "International Organization" within the German Political Science Association (DVPW). Henceforth, the thematic group offers all scholars who are organized in the DVPW and share a research interest in governance beyond the state in and with IOs a variety of opportunities for academic exchange and networking. Gisela Hirschmann, Nele Kortendiek (Goethe University Frankfurt), Cornelia Ulbert (University of Duisburg-Essen) and Christian Kreuder-Sonnen were elected as speakers of the thematic group.
