2022 was a year that introduced the series of global crises and probably surprised everyone. Nevertheless, we as the FSR Political Science and Social Studies would like to review the year.

With the relaxation of further Covid 19 rules at the beginning of the year, it was clear that the FSR would pursue the goal of offering events in presence again. The last Corona-related online games evening in January thus ended the period of online events.

On 24 February, the cruel war of aggression against Ukraine, which violated international law and was to have a completely negative impact on the year 2022, began. For the FSR Political Science and Social Studies, the same applies today as it did then: We stand with Ukraine. Our thoughts are still with all those affected by the war and their families. On 28 February, the Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena organised an interdisciplinary panel discussion on this topic. Causes and consequences as well as possible scenarios for the future were discussed.

At the beginning of the summer semester, the FSR started with a pub evening and meet and drink in Paradiespark with the students of the student council. You could also get help with course selection, exam registration and timetabling at our Friedolin consultation hour. From the 29th of April to the 1st of May 2022, we went on a workshop in Potsdam. The task: Three days of intensive committee work with the aim of planning concrete projects for the student council, getting to know each other better and planning the future of the FSR. In the summer, in addition to a lecture hall quiz and a Play and Connect in Paradiespark, there was also an FSR summer party in cooperation with the English Studies and Communication Studies student councils to celebrate the return to nightlife.
into the nightlife. In cooperation with the Chair of International Organisations and the DGVN university group, a panel discussion on women in armed conflicts takes place. In both June and November, the FSR organised two guided tours of the Buchenwald memorial.

2022, we have expanded our anti-discrimination services. In case of any discrimination at the university, you can now contact the following e-mail: antidiskriminierung.fsrpowisoku@uni-jena.de. All incidents will be handled confidentially and discreetly. Our anti-discrimination officers are also available at events.

After the FSU committee elections in June, your new student council for 2022/2023 is now set, which was constituted at the beginning of the winter semester. At the beginning of October, we welcomed the new students to our department with the introductory days. This included help with the timetable, guided tours of the city, get-to-know-you meetings and much more. This was followed at the beginning of November by a freshers' party at Jena's Kult Club Kassablanca. At the end of the year, the FSR continues a tradition, namely the annual Christmas reading at which lecturers and staff of the institute read Christmas stories or similar over mulled wine and biscuits. We were especially pleased to welcome you back after a 2-year pandemic.
