Student Council Closed Meeting 2023

The Student Council of Political Science & Social Studies of the University of Jena went to Großbreitenbach for a closed meeting.

This year, from April 28th to April 30th, we (the FSR Powi/Soku) went to Großbreitenbach for a closed meeting. There we sat down together to work out a project plan for the upcoming year and to strengthen our team spirit during the weekend together.

The journey took place by car in some funny carpools. Our destination: guest house "Marienschule" operated by the Protestant community of Großbreitenbach, where we finally all arrived around afternoon. Over the weekend we could use the whole house including kitchen, seminar room and numerous other rooms. After the rooms had been occupied, the shopping had been done and the cooking had been done, our chairmen presented the plan for the coming days. After that we collected the common expectations for the closed meeting. It quickly became clear that we were all really motivated to tackle great projects. The day was drawing to a close and the rest of the time was devoted to strengthening team spirit. With success.

At 8 o'clock the next morning we gathered one by one and took care of a delicious breakfast together to prepare for the following big project work phase. First we collected proposals for many exciting and fun projects, distributed responsibilities and set a few dates for the semester. Then we took a short break to recharge the batteries and accompanied one of our members on his search for the nearest geocaching hideout. Afterwards, we sat down in small groups according to the responsibilities
previously assigned for the projects and worked out the initial details for our plans. In the process, a
volunteer provided us with homemade waffles.

To wrap up the work for the day, we all took part in a very informative and educational awareness
training session that our anti-discrimination/awareness officers had prepared especially for the
retreat. What we learned now makes it possible for all participants not only to be more aware in everyday life, but also to help out as awareness persons at events when needed.

After cooking and eating, we laughed a lot that evening. The reason: A powerpoint karaoke at its best with three wonderful presentations. Real karaoke and harmonious singing were the crowning glory of the Saturday evening.

On Sunday we dedicated ourselves to a critical feedback about our FSR: What is going well, and what are we not satisfied with? How do we imagine our future? We successfully addressed these questions and will implement our ideas for improvement as soon as possible.

Conclusion: The 2023 retreat was a huge success and was not only productive, but we also had a lot of fun. The internal feedback session also showed that. Now we are setting about making the projects discussed a reality in order to be able to offer the students as colorful a program as possible.
The student body can look forward to an exciting semester!
