Title: Intelligent walking in humans and robots
Duration: September 2017 to August 2019
Funding Institution: DFG (MU 2970 / 4-1)
Project leader: PD Dr. Roy Müller
Project staff: Johanna Vielemeyer, Eric Grießbach
Project partner: TU Munich (Prof. Dr. Daniel Rixen)

Project description

People seem to walk effortlessly over uneven ground and respond to changes in ground level with supposed ease. An understanding of the underlying mechanisms as well as the adaptation strategies may help to better understand motor control of human locomotion in general and to further the development and enhancement of robust and efficient walking robots. The aim of the present application is to identify the appropriate mechanisms and adaptation strategies and to check their effectiveness by transferring them to robotics.
