Project description
The ankle sprain is the most common lower extremity injury to young adults. Depending on the severity of the trauma, the affected person may experience functional limitations and be required to temporarily restrict or discontinue activity. In some cases, chronic instability of the ankle develops and the risk of reinjury is increased. In practice, ankle braces are often used for injury prevention and rehabilitation of individuals with unstable ankle joints. It is still unclear, which mechanisms underlie the injury-preventive effect of ankle braces. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of ankle braces on balance control and walking kinematics in adults with unilateral ankle instability.
