Project description
Due to the high injury rate in field hockey and the associated player failure rate or limited performance, questions about the identification of risk factors are increasingly becoming the focus of the clubs, sponsors, coaches, and medical professionals. The aim of the study is the first-time systematic documentation of training- and game-related injuries in field and indoor hockey and the identification of possible risk factors. In the prospective cohort study, more than 250 female and male junior and competitive athletes from associations of the Hockey-Verband in Hamburg are observed over an indoor and field hockey season. The results should help to identify injury predictors and to develop preventive strategies in hockey.
