Rouwen Cañal Bruland visited Japanese universities and research institutions

Initiation of future resarch collaborations with Japanese researchers

As part of his research sabbatical Prof. Cañal Bruland​ visited various universities and research institutions in Japan from September 5 to September 23. The aim of this research visit was twofold: first, to present ongoing research conducted at the Department for the Psychology of Human Movement and Sport in various seminars and talks and, second, to intensify and initiate joint future research with Japanese researchers. 

During his visit to Japan Rouwen Cañal Bruland​ gave several invited talks including at Tokyo Metropolitan University (Perception and Action Laboratory; Prof. Takahiro Higuchi und Ass. Prof. Kazunobu Fukuhara), in the Seminar Series of the Advanced Research Initiative for Human High Performance (#73) at the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences der University of Tsukuba (Prof. Masahiro Kokubu & Prof. Seiji Ono), at Keio University (Lab of Prof. Takaaki Kato) in Tokyo, in the Kashino Diverse Brain Research Lab at NTT Communication Science Laboratories (Prof. Makio Kashino & Dr. Daiki Nasu) in Atsugi and in the Center for Information and Neural Networks (CiNet; Dr. Tsuyoshi Ikegami) in Osaka. In addition, he visited the Labs of Prof. Shuji Mori at Kyushu University in Fukuoka and the Lab of Ass. Prof. Hiroki Nakamoto at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya. In several meetings also the Japanese hosts and members of their respective labs presented their ongoing research which led to stimulating discussions that may lead to joint German-Japanese research initiatives in the future.

During his visit to Japan Rouwen Cañal Bruland​ was joined by his excellent hosts Kazunobu Fukuhara (in Tokyo) and Hiroki Nakamoto (during the entire visit).
