From January 16th to 20th, 2023, the team of the Department for the Psychology of Human Movement and Sport took part in the Winter Academy of the Department of Movement and Exercise Science at the University of Bern (Switzerland), headed by Prof. Dr. Ernst Joachim Hossner (https://www.ispw.unibe.ch/research/movement_and_exercise_science/index_eng.htmlExternal link). Under the motto "Motor & Cognition", a varied week was scheduled for scientific exchange with many exciting presentations on current research projects and results of the two reserach groups. Beyond that, there were numerous opportunities for discussions and deeper exchange, from which all participants will benefit for their further work.

The team of the Department for the Psychology of Human Movement and Sport contributed to the scientific exchange with the following presentations:

  • Rouwen Cañal-Bruland: “Anticipation in sports: Integrating contextual and multisensory information”
  • Florian Müller: “Motives as determinants of motor performance”
  • Oliver Seidel-Marzi: “A dual-process account of anticipation in sports”
  • Henrietta Weinberg: “Anticipation in uncertain and time-constrained handball situations”
  • Norman Hüttner: “Motor performance in joint action tasks: The impact of dyadic motive fit”

Beyond the daily scientific program, the Winter Academy's chosen location in the Swiss canton of Valais offered numerous opportunities to enjoy the breathtaking Swiss mountains and the timely arrival of winter.

We would like to thank the team of the Department of Movement and Exercise Science for the perfect organization of the Winter Academy and the wonderful time in Switzerland, which will be remembered for a long time. Thank you for letting us be your guests!
